When a student reaches the esteemed first level Black Belt, the realization quickly sets in that the journey toward true martial arts knowledge has just begun.
Having forged forward towards the Black Belt goal for many years, months, weeks, and days and hours the spirit, mind and body is conditioned and prepared to address new and challenging knowledge.
Unique to USTA 1st & 2nd degree Black Belts will have the opportunity and the challenge to train and study the ultimate Japanese Martial Art- Battojitsu and Kenjutsu (the martial arts of quick drawing of the live Japanese sword and battle field skills with the live sword).
Before a student can start with the “live blade” drawing and cutting, there is a two years training period with the wooden sword. This approach is primary for SAFETY and to teach the student basic history, basic attire, equipment and skills.
